What is a fluid created by infection?

Pus is a thick fluid that forms as a result of infection. It is composed of dead white blood cells, bacteria, tissue debris, and various proteins, which accumulate at the site of infection. The production of pus is part of the body's immune response, indicating that the body is fighting off an infection, usually caused by bacteria.

In contrast, blood is a vital fluid that circulates throughout the body, transporting oxygen and nutrients, while saliva is produced in the mouth for digestion and lubrication. Mucus acts as a protective barrier in various parts of the body, trapping pathogens and foreign particles. Although all these fluids play important roles in the body, only pus directly results from the immune response to infection and signifies the presence of an inflammatory process.
